Meet the Doctors
LeAnne Duffey DVM
Dr. Duffey came to Smyrna and SVC in 1994 after graduating from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. She chose Middle Tennessee because she loved the area after attending Middle Tennessee State University. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry. After 8 years as an associate vet at SVC, she was given the opportunity to become it's owner. In 2009, she became the sole owner of SVC; a lifelong dream of hers and loves running a busy practice. Dr. LeAnne is very active in the Smyrna Rotary Club. She is also a member of Smyrna First Presbyterian. Her husband, Mike, can be seen at SVC providing computer support for the hospital and general maintenance. On weekends they are found working in their yard/garden, volunteering, or hiking with their 3 dogs Chesnie, Josie and Oaklie.
Emily Jensen DVM
Dr. Jensen grew up in Frankfort, Kentucky. She attended Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia, where she played collegiate volleyball and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1999. After graduation she worked at Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation in Boerne, Texas, for 5 years. Dr. Jensen graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She now lives in Murfreesboro with her husband, Darren, their sons, Soren and Erik, and Gus the cat.
Caroline Glyn Ervin DVM
Dr. Ervin is a 2012 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, ranking first in her class. She is originally from Brentwood, Tennessee, and is thrilled to be returning to Middle Tennessee to begin her veterinary career! Dr. Ervin completed her undergraduate education at University of Tennessee as well, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in 2008. Her professional interests include wellness care, nutrition, and internal medicine. In addition to veterinary medicine, Dr. Ervin enjoys music, film, theatre, and spending time with her wonderful family and friends. She has 2 cats, Hank and Reggie.
Jennifer Nunnery DVM
Dr Nunnery grew up in Murfreesboro, TN. After graduating from Riverdale High School, she attended Hollins College in Roanoke, VA where she received her BA in Biology. She continued on to the University of Tennessee for veterinary school. In vet school she expected to follow a large animal path, which then lead her into public health and a 2 year fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta While in Atlanta she met her husband Mark and they moved to Chattanooga, TN. In Chattanooga she made her switch to small animal practice and has been loving it ever since. In 2006 she and Mark and a quartet of cats made the journey to State College, PA. Originally conceived as a one year adventure, they found themselves staying for a decade. Jennifer was excited to join SVC as she returned to Middle Tennessee to be near family. She and Mark now live in Murfreesboro with their daughter Allison, their golden retrievers Virginia and Lily, and their cats Haiki and Jasmine. She has special interests in feline medicine, geriatric medicine, and ultrasound.
Meet the Staff
Heather has worked at Southern Veterinary since 2009. She graduated from Columbia State Community College with an Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology in 2011. She is married, has two young boys. Heather has a pit bull/boxer mix named Rocko.
Kelsey joined the Southern Veterinary Center team in May of 2012. She graduated from Columbia State Community College in 2012 as a Licensed Veterinary Technician.
In her spare time she can be found hunting, riding RZR's or riding horses.
Kelsey lives in Unionville with her husband Chaz, and their two dogs, Isis and Delta.
Alyssa has worked at Southern Veterinary Center since 2013 after graduating from Vol State with an Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology.
She recently got engaged in October 2016. She has four cats and a pet rabbit named Sir Hops alot.
Stephanie graduated from Volunteer State College in 2016 with an Associate of Applied Science degree. She joined the Southern Veterinary Center team after graduating as a LVMT.
Stephanie enjoys reading, visiting family and playing games with her kids.She currently resides in Murfreesboro with her husband Jesse and children Elizabeth and JJ and cats.
